Matt Bryers and the guys over at TRITAC Martial Arts have released a new video showing sacrifice throws that’ll be an asset to anyone’s game. Sacrifice throws are high risk/high reward judo throws that can either end in huge success or with you in an unfortunate position
Uke Waza
The Uke Waza is the same as a lateral drop in wrestling. You start in an over/under tie up. From there you step in and sit out to throw the opponent ending up in side mount.
Sumi Gaeshi
The Sumi Gaeshi starts from a snap down from standing. Take one step to the outside and one between the opponent’s feet before doing a back roll. You will end up in the mount position on your opponent.
Kimura Uke Waza
Same motions as the Uke Waza, but this time with a Kimura grip. Do the same movements as the Uke Waza, but end in side control keeping the Kimura and finishing it.
Reverse Kimura Throw
The Reverse Kimura Throw comes from a Russian tie. After you switch to a reverse Kimura grip push their arm to their hip and do a roll to take them down
Yoko Guruma
Yoko Guruma is similar to a deep half guard sweep. When you have a deep underhook dive between the opponents legs hooking one of them and take them over just like a deep half guard sweeps.
These are great techniques to add along with your other takedowns and throws. For more techniques like this check out our technique section and look for more techniques added weekly.
