A couple weeks ago we shared a video from Danaher Death Squad member Gordon Ryan, showing how to pass the rubber guard. This week we have a video from the main man himself, John Danaher, one of the most well-respected jiujitsu coaches in the world. Since starting jiujitsu at age 28, the New Zealand native and Renzo Gracie black belt has made a name for himself as a walking encyclopedia of the sport. Having trained athletes like Georges St. Pierre, Gordon Ryan, Nicky Ryan, and Eddie Cummings, it’s clear his systematic approach to the sport has paid dividends.
In this video he goes into great detail showing how to execute the perfect armbar from mount, showing all of the small details that make a big difference in the execution. Though the video is a bit on the longer side at 16 minutes, it’s absolutely worth the depth of detail that he includes. To see more from Danaher you can pick up his “Mastering Jiujitsu” book that he coauthored with Renzo or check out BJJ Fanatics for his video series.
